KABUL (Pajhwok): The Chief Executive Office on Monday denied the government banned former spymaster Rahmatullah Nabil from travelling abroad.
Earlier, the “Axis of Afghanistan People” said in a statement Nabil’s name had been placed on the exit control list in compliance with a government decree.
Nabil was barred from going abroad after his disclosures of interference from Pakistan’s intelligence services in Afghanistan’s affairs and activities of government leaders in the presidential election.
The statement added that former intelligence chief was currently out of the country and would return soon to push ahead with his political struggle.
But Javed Faisal, deputy spokesman for the CEO, told reporters the government respected political activities in the country. He denied any restrictions on Nabil.
No discussion had taken place on the subject at the government level, he said, adding: “Nabil can freely return to the country. The government has taken no action against him.”
