KABUL Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi says.
Officials from Afghanistan, India and Iran agreed to finalise a protocol to harmonise transit, roads, customs and consular matters, the ministry said in a statement on Friday.
At its second meeting, the Follow-up Committee reviewed implementation of the trilateral Chabahar Agreement, the statement added.
The three countries hailed steady progress in port operations by the India Ports Global Ltd since it took over operations at the Shaheed Beheshti Port in Chabahar in December 2018.
More than five lakh tonnes of cargo, including exports from Afghanistan through Chabahar Port, had been handled successfully, the MEA said.
A study will be conducted by India’s Federation of Freight Forwarders' Associations in India (FFFAI) to streamline cargo transit through the Chabahar port.
