KABUL Institute of Strategic Studies (AISS) report as against Islamic beliefs and the Constitution and stressed pursuit of the perpetrators behind its publication.
Lately, the AISS published a report on Roots of Religious Radicalism in Afghanistan’s Educational Curriculum which sparked a huge criticism nation-wide.
The report quoted Shaheer Seerat as saying: “Specifically, religious lessons should focus on pluralistic narratives, and religious education should be explicitly included in a few religious subjects and excluded from other subjects.”
Mualvi Atiquallah, a lawmaker from Badakhshan province, said: “The government should not ignore the publication of this report. It is like rubbing salt into the wound.”
He called the report a conspiracy of the enemies of Islam. “If the government does not investigate the issue, the nation will get united and will forcefully respond to individuals who published this report.”
Qazi Nazir Ahmad Hanafi, a lawmaker from Herat province, said the AISS had committed an offense against Islamic beliefs and values of Afghans.
“Muslims are not asleep. If the government does not punish them, the nation will do it. It will be better if the government punishes the authors of this report,” he demanded.
A number of other lawmakers slammed the AISS report and termed it an insult to Islam and Constitution of the country. They sought punishment for f the report writers.
Wolesi Jirga Speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani tasked the Education and Higher Education Commission to study the report and share its pores and corns with the house.
No one from the AISS could not be reached for comment on the Wolesi Jirga response to their report.
