Jawzjan governor back to work after 7 months

SHIBERGHAN (Pajhwok): The governor of northern Jawzjan province returned to his office from Kabul on Saturday after a break lasting seven months.

Maulvi Abdul Latim Azizi left the province for Kabul after the announcement of Presidential Election seven months ago and the administrative affairs have since been run by his deputy.

But since Jawzjan is considered Gen. Dostum’s stronghold, his party tasked Maulvi Abdul Hai Hayat, a member of the Provincial Council, to run the provincial affairs in the provincial headquarters of Junbish-i-Islami, a political party headed by Dostum.

Recently, Maulvi Hayat’s supporters though gatherings had asked the concerned authorities to appoint Hayat as Jawzjan Governor.

But Azizi, who just returned to Shiberghan, did not comment about the gatherings that took place in the support of Hayat.

Governor’s Spokesperson Abdul Maroof Azad said Azizi would go to his office onward from Sunday.

Referring to the entry of Azizi, Hayat said: “I and Azizi are from one political party and the fact who will lead the affairs of the province belongs to leadership of the province,” he said.
