PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): Pakistan, pledging consistent support for peace and stability in the neighbouring country.
Prime Minister Imran Khan held out the pledge during a meeting on Friday night in Islamabad with Wolesi Jirga speaker Mir Rahman Rahmani and the delegation he led.
Durable peace in Afghanistan would also benefit Pakistan, Khan said, adding there were untapped economic synergies between the two countries.
These synergies could be realised in the sphere of economic and trade ties, the prime minister believed. Kabul and Islamabad could open new avenues of cooperation and enhanced connectivity with the Central Asian republics, he said.
A seminar on Pakistan-Afghanistan trade and investment will take place on October 26-27 in Islamabad. The event reflects Pakistan’s desire to achieve progress on the bilateral economic agenda.
Led by Rahmani, the Wolesi Jirga delegation arrived in Islamabad on Friday for talks on various issues with Pakistani leaders.
The delegation is visiting Islamabad in response to an invitation from National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser.
The visiting parliamentary team will also meet Pakistan’s foreign and interior ministers, leaders of both houses of parliament and national security advisor.
