KABUL (Pajhwok): High Council for National Reconciliation chairman Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday hoped that countries having influence on the Taliban would encourage the group to come to the negotiating table.
Addressing a meeting of the council’s media commission in Kabul, Abdullah said the establishment of the media commission in the High Peace Council was aimed at involving all people in the peace process.
According to him, the commission has three parts: an administrative committee, a secretariat and a committee of media leaders.
He said the Taliban had left the negotiating table and the group negotiators remaining in Qatar could not help with peace talks.
Abdullah called on countries and parties with influence on the Taliban to encourage the group to return to the negotiating table because no decision was possible behind the scenes.
He added there was no experience to bring peace by forming an interim government and if the Taliban did not stop fighting, peace will be impossible.
