KABUL (Pajhwok): US special envoy for Afghanistan reconciliation ZalmayKhalilzad spoke with top Afghan government negotiator MasoomStanekzai about latest developments in the peace process on Tuesday.
The two sides discussed security issues, ceasefire, political participation in the peace process and the Moscow conference during the meeting, according to a statement issued by the peace delegation.
The meeting emphasized the need for a principled discussion on issues, the source added.
The statement said in addition to accelerating the peace talks in Doha, the quality of the talks should be maintained.
Khalilzad, who is in Kabul for the second time in the past two weeks, held talks with President Ashraf Ghani and Dr. Abdullah, as well as a number of politicians.
The last time he visited Kabul he shared a number of new proposals, including an inclusive transitional government.
A source told Pajhwok Afghan News that the government and politicians had shared their views on the plan with Khalilzad.
The same proposals have also been shared with the Taliban. Dr Naeem, a spokesman for the Taleban’s Qatar office, said they had begun an assessment of the proposals.
