1 person killed as Taliban attack senate secretary

KABUL (Pajhwok): One individual was killed and a second wounded in a Taliban gun attack on the vehicle carrying the secretary of Meshrano Jirga in Kabul.

Mohammad Alam Izedyar, deputy chairman of Meshrano Jirga, told Pajhwok Afghan News that incident took place in Qala-i-Kashif area of 5^th police district on Saturday night.

He said the militants opened fire on the vehicle carrying Abdul Muqtadir Nasiri, head of the upper house secretariat. He added Nasiri escaped unhurt but one of his bodyguards was killed and another wounded.

Police spokesman Ferdos Faramarz told Pajhwok Afghan News that the clash took place in Qala-i-Kashif area of 5th police district on Saturday night.

He added the clash erupted after two militants assassinated a public service official named Aziz Rahman. Police intervened, killing one Taliban insurgent and detained another in injured condition.

He added that two policemen were injured in the clash.

Taliban have made no comment about the clash.
