KABUL (Pajhwok): The Taliban say that the Kabul airport is being repaired and cleaned by technical teams and called on the people to avoid visiting the facility.
The US brought to an end the longest war in its history after the last American troops left the Hamid Karzai International Airport on Tuesday night.
US forces also destroyed some facilities, including scores of aircraft and armoured vehicles at the airport. No landing has taken place at the airport since Tuesday night.
In a statement, the Taliban said: “The forces of the Islamic Emirate and the Mujahideen, as well as journalists and citizens, are asked to avoid going to the airport for some time.”
The statement added the airport was undergoing repairs by technical teams Departures and arrivals hamper the effort.
Once the effort was completed, airport operations would resume, the Taliban assured.
