5,000 children get education in Logar local classes

PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): Education officials in central Logar province on Sunday said at least 5,000 children have been enrolled in 142 local classes in the province.

Logar education department’s spokesman Shapoor Arab told Pajhwok Afghan News the local classes had been set up in some districts of the province with the help of the IRC.

“Of these classes,30 are established in Pul-i-Alam, the provincial capital, 25 in Baraki Barak, 35 in Kharwar, 13 in Khoshi and 29 in Mohammad Agha districts of the province,” he said.

He added that with the establishment of these classes, education has been provided to 5,000 children who were deprived of education due to insecurity and other problems.

The curriculum of the Ministry of Education is taught in the established local classrooms, he added.

Logar education department is trying to set up similar local classrooms in all the districts of the province for students who are deprived of going to schools, he said.

Abdul Wadud, a resident of Mohammad Agha district, told Pajhwok that 29 local classes had been set up in his district where hundreds of children were getting education.

He said that in previous years, his children could not get education due to conflict and other problems, but now they were provided with the education facility at their own area.

He called on the government and aid agencies to establish local classes in all districts of the province.

He also called for the appointment of professional teachers in local classrooms to provide quality education to children.

Children are also happy with the local classes for their education.

Ayesha, a local resident who attends one of these classes in the Sajawand area of ​​Baraki Barak district, said that she was happy to go to the class every day with her other classmates.

She praised the government's move but called for an immediate reopening of schools for all girls.

There are a total of 262 schools in Logar province where over 150,000 boys and girls get education.
