KABUL (Pajhwok): Eligible people should be consulted on the country’s affairs, especially education, and the ship of the Islamic Emirate should be rescued, said Maulvi Mohammad Omar Khattabi while addressing a grand gathering of religious scholars in Kabul on Thursday.

The three-day grand meeting of religious scholars and tribal elders began at the Loya Jirga tent today amid tight security measures. About 3500 people are attending the event.

Khattabi, a participant from southern Kandahar province, told the gathering that eligible people should be consulted on the affairs. “Sometimes one of its boards has to be broken to save the boat. Rulings differ based on needs. ”

Maulvi Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Ansari, a participant from western Herat province, said: “Anyone who stands against the current system should be beheaded and done away with.”

Khattabi in his address said that this year had many achievements compared to last year. He listed independence, security, the Islamic system, independent decisions and brotherhood as some the achievements this year which came with the return of the Islamic Emirate to power.

“Last year we did not have all these achievements. The country was liberated from the physical presence of the occupiers, the military war was won, but still we face problems in the political arena. The money of our oppressed nation has been frozen and sanctions imposed.”

Khattabi said though the United States had been defeated militarily, yet the country continued its economic and propaganda wars against Afghanistan in order to pressure the Afghans.

“The ship of the Islamic Emirate must be salvaged. Sometimes, in order to save a ship, one of its planks must be broken. Rulings vary based on needs. It’s important that the council is always used and that the eligible people are consulted.”

In the field of education, he said, competent people should be consulted about what Afghanistan and its people required.

He said in line with contemporary demands, all needs of the country should be taken into account and a positive response found to them under the framework of Sharia.

Maulvi Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Ansari from western Herat province said: “Anyone who stands against the current system should be beheaded.”

He said the current security in Afghanistan was unmatched in the world and that all Afghans needed to work together to strengthen the system.

Maulvi Zia-ur-Rehman, a participant from eastern Nangarhar province, said that all kinds of storms had passed in Afghanistan and the nation maintained its values and recorded masterpieces in the pages of history to preserve them.

He said Islam had no borders and it was a living religion and protecting the country’s borders was the shared responsibility of all.

He said the Mujahideen of the Islamic Emirate, who were the guardians of people’s lives, wealth, honor and the borders of the Islamic country, must be appreciated and encouraged.

Sheikh Mohammad Saeed Hashimi, a participant of the meeting from Balkh province, said: “The Mujahideen have done their duty very well in carrying out jihad. Now it is the responsibility of the nation to support the Islamic system and obey the rulers.”

He said the greatest thing the Islamic Emirate did was to pardon all opponents after the victory.
