QALA-I-NAW (Pajhwok): A young man has been killed by his wife in the Aab-i- Kamari district of western Badghis province, a police official said on Wednesday.

However, the accused woman said during investigation that she had murdered her husband mistakenly.

Ishaq Saddam, the district police chief, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the victim — 22-year-old Mohammad Idrees — hailed from the Zemataha village of the district and was serving as a security official under the Islamic Emirate.

He added based on initial investigation, the woman has confessed to her crime. “My husband told me that he wants to marry another woman. As a result, a fight erupted between us and I wanted to commit suicide.”

She added: “I picked a pistol and wanted to kill myself but my husband did not let me do that. All of a sudden, I opened fire and shot at my spouse inadvertently,” she said.

Saddam said the killer had been arrested by security forces of the district and her cases submitted to judicial organs for further investigation.

Mohammad Idrees succumbed to his wounds at a local hospital after five days of the incident the official concluded.
