FARAH CITY (Pajhwok): Nearly 1,000 homes completely destroyed and 1,400 others partially damaged during past conflict in the Balaboluk district of western Farah province, an official said on Wednesday.
Mullah Israel Yasir, director Natural Disaster Management Authority, told Pajhwok Afghan News 32 of the destroyed house had been reconstructed while 462 others rehabilitated in the past 10 months at the cost of 364,4224.
He said the total cost of all reconstructed and rehabilitated homes was $463,224 provided by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA).
According to Mullah Israel total 950 homes had been destroyed in Balakoluk whiel 1,400 others are partially damaged as a result of past conflicts.
Meanwhile, some residents in the area also urged the authorities to help rehabilitated their homes destroyed during past conflicts.
Abdul Manan, the resident of Kansak village, said: “The past war took everything from us, most of our villagers migrated to Farah City or other districts and have no financial ability to rehabilitate their homes.”
Abdul Hameed, another local resident said his house situated near Kandahar-Herat Road but it was destroyed completely during the past conflict.
It is pertinent to mention that most people lost their love ones and suffered financial losses during the past conflict in the country.
