KABUL (Pajhwok): Japanese ambassador to Kabul Takashi Okada has expressed the hope that there will be no ban on girls’ education in Afghanistan in the next academic year.
Okada, who met acting Minister of Interior Sirajuddin Haqqani, stressed continued cooperation of his country with Afghanistan, tweeted the Ministry of Interior.
During the meeting, Haqqani was quoted as saying that economic and banking restrictions on Afghanistan by the international community had severely affected the people of Afghanistan.
He said: "The sanctions policy is not in the interest of anyone and only dialogue and understanding can solve problems. Unfortunately, the world is punishing the common people with their political stance against us, which is not fair."
Haqqani said: "If the international community moves forward with pure intentions, there is great hope that this atmosphere of mistrust will be transformed into a language of understanding."
In the meeting, the Japanese envoy hoped that restrictions on girls’ education would be removed in the next academic year.
