PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The tripartite rail link among Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and Pakistan will significantly cut cargo delivery times for the three countries.

The Pakistan Business Forum (PBF), hailing the 760-kilometre railroad project, estimated the cargo delivery time would be slashed by five days.

The project would connect Afghanistan and Pakistan with Central Asia and Russia via Termez city in southern Uzbekistan.

PBF spokeswoman welcomed the signing of the protocol in this regard as an achievement for all stakeholders.

Speaking to journalists on Saturday, Zainab Jatoi called the project a game-changer and business booster for the region.

She believed the railway line would support both passenger and freight services and contribute to regional trade and economic growth.

The link could provide an alternative and more secure route, lessening reliance on traditional sea lanes and whittling down the trade cost.
