KABUL (Pajhwok): Around one billion afs has been collected in Ushr and Zakart last year, an official said on Wednesday.
Mawlavi Fazal Bari Fazli, assistant finance and admin head of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, said last year one billion afs collected in Ushr and Zakat and the amount was deposited in a specific bank account.
“The amount collected in Ushar, Zakat was spent on vulnerable people such as orphans, disables and poverty-stricken, no other activity was carried out with this amount.”
Fazli said Ushar and Zakat collection was the responsibility of the Agriculture ministry but its distribution was done by the orders of the Islamic Emirate Supreme Leader.
He added no force was used while collecting Ushar and Zakat, adding that people by their own paid the amount.
Acting Agriculture Minister Mawlavi Attaullah Umari said around 180 private companies have made investment in agriculture sector.
He said 241 agriculture projects worth $328 million have been implemented by the national and international organisations.
Umari said over five million metric tonnes of wheat had been produced last year in the country showing surge comparing with the previous years.
He said with the support of national and international institutions over 25,000 metric tonnes of refined seed had been distributed to the farmers in the country.
According to the agriculture minister nearly four million acres of Emarti land had been identified in 31 provinces of the country while nearly 30,000 acres of Emariti land had been retrieved.
“Border areas disputes in 14 provinces had been technically resolved with neighbours while 200 new signs had been constructed in order to avoid border disputes,” he said.
Umari said this year five modern cold stores complexes would be built in Kabul, Laghman and Maidan Wardak provinces.
