KABUL (Pajhwok): Power utility Da Afghanistan Bareshna Shirkat (DABS) on Sunday announced renewing agreement with Turkmenistan on import of electricity for another year.
DABS wrote on its X handle today that CEO Mullah Mohammad Haneef Hamza and a delegation accompanying him met Turkmenistan energy and water minister Annageldy Saparov during his two-day trip to the country.
It said the meeting oversaw the two sides signing the electricity purchase agreement for 2024.
Based on the agreement, Turkmenistan would provide 1.8 billion kilowatts of electricity per hour through four routes — Andokhi, Aqina, Badghis and Turgundi-Herat, DABS said.
It added: “The transmission line of 500 kilowatts to Shiberghan and then to Kabul from Arghandi area has been completed. The line was put into service a week ago and the Turkmen side assured the transfer of electricity from Turkmenistan on this line.”
The DABS CEO appreciated Turkmenistan for its cooperation and added that Afghanistan needed the country’s cooperation and support.
Earlier, Afghanistan has renewed agreements on electricity import with Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
