KABUL (Pajhwok): At least a dozen Afghans were also killed in two deadly explosions in Iran’s Kerman city earlier in the week.
Three days ago, more than 300 people were killed and injured in two back-to-back explosions near the venue of the fourth death anniversary of Qasem Soleimani, former commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Gen. Soleimani had been assassinated in a US drone strike in Baghdad, the capital of Iraq.
Fars News Agency quoted Iranian officials as saying: “There are 12 Afghans among those martyred in the terrorist incident in Kerman, where they had gone to visit the Gulzar shrine.”
Along with other countries, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Afghanistan had condemned the deadly explosions in Kerman.
Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesman for MoFA, wrote on his X handle the IEA expressed its deep sympathy and condolences to the government and people of Iran, especially to the families of the victims.
