PUL-I-ALAM (Pajhwok): The Education Department of central Logar province says thirteen new schools have been approved and would be opened in the new academic year.
Education Department spokesperson Shapur Arab told Pajhwok Afghan these schools were being opened on the demand of people and after approval of the Ministry of Education (MoE) in Pul-i-alam and all districts of the province.
He said about 8,000 both boys and girls would be enrolled in these schools.
He added three schools were approved in the provincial capital this year, where 1,500 students were studying.
“The interest of people in education has significantly increased compared to the past and the Education Department is also trying to approve new schools for students in remote areas of the province.”
Haji Lambat, a tribal elder in the provincial capital, told Pajhwok that he was happy that the MoE was opening new schools in remote villages.
He said a new school was inaugurated in the refugee town IN Pul-i-Alam this year, where hundreds of students are studying.
Hazrat Khan, a teacher in Kharwar district, said the interest of the people in education had increased compared to the past.
He added the Ministry of Education should provide education opportunities for people in all areas of the province.
There are 275 schools in Pul-i-Alam and districts, where 100,000 boys and 50,000 girls are being taught by 4390 teachers including 520 female teachers.
