FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Hundreds of books have been put on display at a street book fair that started in Ferozkoh city, the capital of western Ghor province, on Tuesday.
The book fair is organized in the main intersection in Ferozkoh city by the Information and Culture Department.
Provincial information and culture director Maulvi Abdul Hai Zaeem said: “The aim of this book fair is to encourage book reading culture, especially among the youth.”
Books on science and religion have been also put on the display for visitors.
Tayiba Library director Maulvi Shamsulhaq Mowahid said without book reading, no society could develop scientifically and socially.
Mowahaid said: “We urge the people to return to book reading.”
A number of visitors said such exhibitions could bring about positive scientific, cultural and social changes in the society.
Mohammad Ahmadi said: “The classification of humans depends on knowledge, this is possible through study and getting information. This is the most useful way so we have to support such cultures.”
Another citizen of Ferozkoh city Abdul Sabor Saqib expressed his pleasure about the event and said he loved reading books
