KABUL (Pajhwok): Two days long book fair has been opened at Kabul University to promote books reading culture, an official said on Sunday.
Mufti Abdul Alim Zanwak, head of the Baihaqi Publication, said the exhibition will be open for two days at Kabul University, two days in the Charkhi Prison and for two days in the Central Orphanage.
The book fair is launched by the Baihaqi Publication which is associated with the Ministry of Information and Cultural Affairs.
He said 71 publication houses have presented thousands of books for display in the exhibition but he did not give the exact figure of total books.
Hameedullah Weyar, deputy publication head of the Baihaqi Publication, said he was considering opening bookstores in all provinces of the country.
Currently, the Baihaqi Publication stores were opened in 13 provinces of the country, but he did not give the names of these provinces.
Kabul University Head Osama Aziz said that readings improve knowledge and understanding of humans and can help improve the research ability as well.
He hoped that this exhibition would prove effective for the university students and teachers.
Attaullah, one of the participants, said that 70 books in different fields were put on display in the exhibition.
He hoped that books presented in the exhibition would get the satisfaction of youth.
