KABUL (Pajhwok): The acting minister of labour and social affairs has shared with his Russian counterpart a draft law on legally sending Afghan workers to that country.
Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) Mullah Abdul Manan Omari is in Russia, where, he attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
A statement from the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs (MoLSA) said Mullah Omari met Anton Kotyakov, the Russian minister of labour and social protection, on the sidelines of the forum.
Omari talked to his counterpart about sending skilled and semi-skilled Afghan workers to that country. They also discussed sharing experiences in fields such as labour, social affairs and capacity building of workers.
Omari also shared with Kotyakov a copy of a draft law on sending Afghan labourers to the Russian Federation, the statement added.
Omari underlined the geopolitical and geostrategic location of Afghanistan in his speech at the four-day event. He said Afghanistan connected South and Central of Asia.
He hoped regional countries would continue having positive interaction with IEA as Afghanistan offered ample economic and trade opportunities.
The government of IEA stuck to its promise of bringing peace and stability to create a favourable environment for economic activities, he said: “IEA’s economic policy seeks to build a sustainable and self-sufficient Afghanistan which can contribute to economic strategies of regional countries as well.”
He said: “We are waiting for the lifting of sanction on Afghanistan, which have left negative effects on this country.”
Afghanistan must benefit from the Chinese ‘Belt and Road Initiative’ and Eurasian countries should take advantage of Afghanistan’s strategic location, he stressed.
The Eurasian countries must help Afghanistan in the development of railway and road networks, as well as in the area of energy and technology.
Omari said: “IEA is committed to the economic development of the country by removing all hurdles and creating an environment that is beneficial for the entire region.”
The labour minister concluded that Afghanistan was ready for all-out economic cooperation with the world.
