KABUL (Pajhwok): The foundation stone of a new cargo truck terminal was laid on Thursday in the Awalkhel area of central Maidan Wardak province.
The terminal will be built on 11 acres of land with an investment of five million afghanis.
According to a statement from the governor’s office, the project includes construction of an 868-meter-long wall around the terminal area, which is expected to be completed within six months.
During the inauguration, Maulvi Syedul Rahman Hafiz, the deputy governor of Maidan Wardak, explained that the terminal would provide a designated stopping point for trucks to unload, thereby reducing congestion in Kabul's city center.
Engineer Muhammad Asim, a representative from the Ministry of Transport and Aviation, and Maulvi Niaz Muhammad Moghfoor, the Transport Officer of the province, echoed these sentiments.
They emphasized that the new terminal will help alleviate traffic congestion in Kabul.
