KABUL (Pajhwok): The Food and Agricultural Organisation of the UN (FAO) supported 55,750 families with livestock protection packages during the ongoing year, a statement said on Sunday.
This package included safeguarding animals, and ensuring food and security for a better life, the organization said on its x.com.
“In #Afghanistan, 3 out of 4 people depend on agriculture for survival. In 2024, @FAO supported 55 750 families with livestock protection packages, safeguarding their animals & ensuring food security for a better life. Together, we uphold the #RightToFood for all.”
FAO announced earlier on the occasion of World Food Day that one out of every three people in Afghanistan is facing food insecurity due to climate shocks.
Afghanistan has experienced a severe drought in recent years and crises caused by climate change, including floods, have caused severe damage to agriculture and livestock.
