HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): A calligraphy exhibition titled Haddis-i-Doast has been orgnised in western Herat province to protect Herat’s original and Islamic writing.
The exhibition was opened today (Tuesday) in the presence of Herat cultural activists and writers, it would continue for five days.
Jalil Ahmad Tawana, Head of Head of Calligraphers Association, said in this exhibition, 49 works of different types of Nastaliq, Nastaliq Shikasta and Kufi calligraphy of the first century, created by Amanullah Poya, a valuable artist of Herat, are exhibited.
Amanullah Poya said the art of calligraphy is very important in Islam and it needs to return to its glory.
Mawlavi Hayatullah Muhajar, deputy governor of Herat province, declared full support to culturists and calligraphers and said the ministry is trying to keep the authentic Islamic arts alive and to encourage artists to hold international exhibitions.
The final day of the exhibition is allocated for women.
