KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Finance (MoF) says 16 tankers carrying low-quality fuel were denied entry at multiple customs checkpoints across the country last month.
In a statement, the ministry said the Directorate of Fuel Quality and Monitoring — tasked with assessing imported fuel according to approved standards — returned the 16 substandard tankers during the last month of the current solar year. The rejected fuel amounted to a total of 480 tonnes.
According to MoF, the consignments sent back included three tankers of diesel, four tankers of liquefied gas and one tanker of lubricants from Nimroz Customs, four tankers of diesel from Hairatan, and four tankers of petrol from Sher Khan Bandar.
The ministry added that professional and technical teams have been deployed at relevant customs offices to test the quality of imported fuel.
Standard laboratories equipped with advanced diagnostic tools have been established to ensure the import of high-quality fuel and prevent low-grade products from entering the country, it concluded.
