Afghanistan beat Ireland by 42 runs, clinch ODI series

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan defeated Ireland by 42 runs in the fourth match of their five-match One-Day International (ODI) series today.

Ireland won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Afghanistan posted 343 runs for the loss of nine wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Sediqullah Atal top-scored with 143 runs, while Ibrahim Zadran made 107.

Chasing a target of 344, Ireland were bowled out for 301 runs in 48 overs, handing Afghanistan a 42-run victory.

Yamin Ahmadzai was Afghanistan’s most successful bowler, taking four wickets. Rashid Khan claimed three wickets, while Azmatullah Omarzai took two and Allah Mohammad Ghazanfar one.

With the victory, Afghanistan have taken an unassailable 3-0 lead over Ireland in the five-match ODI series.
