KABUL (Pajhwok): The General Directorate for the Preservation of Jihadi Heritage at the Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) has launched its website and unveiled five newly published books, officials said Thursday.
The website was launched and the books were unveiled at a ceremony attended by government officials, writers and book and literature enthusiasts, the ministry said in a statement.
Mufti Mohammad Tahir Ahmad, head of the General Directorate for the Preservation of Jihadi Heritage, said the directorate’s law had been endorsed by the leader of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and that work was under way to establish museums in seven zones across the country.
He said efforts were being made to record and document what he described as major jihadi events, crimes committed by occupying forces in Afghanistan, as well as artefacts and equipment left behind from battlefields, and display them in museums.
Foreign Minister Mawlawi Amir Khan Muttaqi stressed the importance of familiarising young people with Afghanistan’s history.
He called on the directorate to document what he described as the events and crimes of the past three empires in Afghanistan and introduce them to the international community.
Officials also briefed participants on the five newly published books: “The Agreement Ending the Occupation,” “To the Guardian of Islam,” “Rules and Virtues of Supplication,” “From the Heights of the Trenches,” and “The Song of My Gun.”
The books cover topics including the Doha negotiations, recommendations, supplications, memoirs and accounts related to the jihad.
