KABUL (Pajhwok): One student has been killed and seven others injured in a stabbing attack at a secondary school in Istanbul, Turkey, a media report said on Wednesday.
Anadolu News Agency reported that a 15-year-old female student studying at a high school in Küçükçekmece went to Sheikh Shamil Imam Hatip Secondary School in the Kayabaşı area, where she attacked students in the school courtyard.
It said one student was killed and seven others injured in the attack.
It added that the attacker was detained by the school’s security guards and handed over to police. The report noted that police had also detained her parents.
Turkey’s Ministry of National Education said classes at the school had been suspended for two days following the incident, while psychosocial support teams had begun working with students, teachers and their families.
Turkish authorities said judicial and administrative investigations into the incident had been launched.
