KABUL): Seven Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have been killed during separate security incidents over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Defence (MoD) said on Wednesday.
A MoD statement said the troops were killed in southern Helmand, Ghazni and central Logar province.
Meanwhile, four people were killed and two others wounded during an armed conflict between two warring tribes in the Ghormach district of Faryab province.
The clash took place in Jersai area on Tuesday evening, the district chief, Asal Khan, said, adding the brother of an Asakzai’s tribal elder was among those killed. The official said Afghan forces had no presence in the Taliban-controlled area.
Mohammad Zaman, a resident of the area, linked the armed clash to an old enmity between the Asakzai and Qabchaq tribes.
The conflict began after the Asakzai tribesmen had disarmed a Qabchaq tribesman, the resident said, recalling an Asakzai tribal leader, Ghulam Hazrat, had been killed by the rivals about two years ago.
