KHOST CITY (Pajhwok): The construction of a cricket stadium with the capacity of 30,000 audiences inaugurated on Thursday in the southeastern Khost province, officials said.
Khost Governor Abdul Jabar Naeemi laid the foundation stone of the stadium and said the $1.3 million donation for construction of the huge project was extended by the government of Germany.
Talking to Pajhwok Afghan News, the governor, said construction work would be completed within two years.
The provincial government was striving hard to resolve the sports related problems on emergency basis as the nation achieved milestones in sports field in recent years, he added.
Aziz Malang, provincial Olympic head, hoped the completion of the stadium would spur sports activities in the province.
It merits mention here that the cricket stadium was the long standing demand of the locals, and its completion would help produce more players.
