ISLAMABAD (PAN Islam (JUI) leader, Maulana Fazl Rahman, on Friday announced his support for the Afghan government-led peace talks with insurgents, saying his party supported a political settlement to the conflict.
Speaking at a joint press conference with High Peace Council if Afghans stood united.
He added his party’s central council would decide on demands presented to him by Rabbani and a decision in this regard would be taken soon.
Secretary of the High Peace Council, Mohammad Masoom Stanikzai, and members, including Din Mohammad, were also present at the press conference.
Afghan Ambassador to Pakistan Omar Daudzai hoped the visit would help minimise the distrust and build confidence between the neighbours.
Karzai is expected to discuss with Pakistani leadership increased cooperation in the ongoing war against terrorism, he told Pajhwok Afghans after the Afghan delegation’s arrival in Islamabad.
