KABUL) officials have seized caches of weapons and ammunition across the country, officials said Monday.
The caches were discovered in Parwan, Kapisa, Logar, Balkh, Jawzjan, Paktia, Kabul, Kunar, Kandahar and Farah provinces based on tips from locals, the NDS statement added.
According to the statement, the ammunition and arms included 542 pressure-plate mines, 94 kg of explosives, 22 shells along with 222 82-mm warheads, 10 anti-tank shell warheads, 117 cartridges for anti-aircraft machine guns, 30 pencil-timer bombs, 13 boxes of heavy machine gun bullets, 51 mortar shells along with 94 warheads, 108 heavy machine gun cartridges, 1 RPG, 117 RPG shells, 190 RPG caps, 4 pistols, one 11-shot rifle, 1 rifle, 922 machine gun bullets, 5 magazine holsters, 10 hand grenades, 2 Walkie Talkies and 25 kg bag of ammonium nitrate.
The exact locations and time of the arm seizure were not mentioned in the statement. It was also not clear if any suspects were arrested in connection with the weapons caches.
