KABUL has started allowing 20 Afghan traders’ containers laden with commercial goods to enter the landlocked country on a daily basis, the finance ministry said.
The clearance process of the 700 Afghanistan-bound containers carrying meat, chicken and eggs began on Tuesday, with almost 20 vehicles crossing Torkham border on a daily basis as reported by Afghan border officials, the ministry said in a statement.
The Afghan delegation had requested Pakistani counterparts to clear the stranded Afghan containers at the 8th Joint Economic Commission meeting on January 17 in Islamabad. Pakistani officials had promised finding solution to the problem in 7-10 days.
