KABUL/BAMYAN (PAN): Thousands of people staged peaceful demonstrations on Thursday to protest the blasphemous movie mocking Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in central Kabul and Bamyan provinces. Produced by American-Israeli real estate investor Sam Basil, the movie was recently released by the same Christian pastor who last year attempted to burn copies of the holy Quran in the US. The film sparked violent protests by Muslims in Libya, Egypt and other countries. One such protest in the Benghazi city of Libya led to the death of four Americans, including the US ambassador. During a demonstration sponsored by the Jamiat-i-Islah party, protestors gathered in the Kota-i-Sangi locality of Kabul and chanted anti-American slogans. While seeking harsh punishment for the producers, the men carried posters inscribed with “Our beloved prophet, your detractors are our foes”. A member of the party, Abdul Salam, said: “We want the United Nations to push the US to bring the moviemakers to trial and stop miscreants from creating problems among followers of various faiths.”/ Ataullah Khpulwok
