KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan’s Consulate in Mumbai started distributing passports to Afghan citizens in India on Monday.
The consulate in Mumbai, which recently started functioning, wrote on X it started issuing passports to Afghans in the country today.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) announced the consulate would be providing consular services to Afghan citizens in India from Monday to Friday.
Zia Ahmad Takal, deputy spokesman for ministry, made the announcement in a post on X, but did not provide further details about the consulate’s resumption of services.
Earlier, Zakia Wardak had served as Afghanistan’s consul general in Mumbai, but she resigned from her position on May 5.
Last week, an Indian delegation, led by the country's special representative to Afghanistan, arrived in Kabul and met high-ranking officials of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
