JALALABAD (PAN): Six militants were killed and a seventh captured alive during a clash with the Afghan National Army (ANA) in the Batikot district of eastern Nangarhar province, an official said on Monday.
The firefight erupted late on Sunday in the Kochiano Qala area of the district, the 201st Selab Corps spokesman, Col. Nauman Hatifi, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Fourteen suspected rebels, including a wounded one, were detained, he said, adding the detainees were under interrogations. A large quantity of weapons and ammunitions were recovered from the fighters.
But a Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said the insurgents had killed and wounded 10 Afghan soldiers. He acknowledged the loss of only one rebel and injuries to two others.
