GHAZNI/CHAGHCHARAN (Pajhwok): Two militants have been killed, eight others and five more detained during separate incidents in southern Ghazni and northwestern Ghor provinces, officials said on Thursday.
Officials in Ghazni said two militants were killed and eight others including three Pakistanis wounded during a 5-hour long clash with Afghan security forces in the province.
The clash erupted when militants stormed a security post in Fani area of Giro district on Thursday morning, district chief, Abdullah Khairkhwah, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
He said two militants were killed and eight others wounded, and many weapons, motorbikes and ammunition seized by the forces during the clash.
Police suffered no casualties in the incident, Khairkhwah added, saying the casualties suffered by militants could surge.
A day earlier, eight militants including two Pakistanis were killed, five injured and six others arrested during an overnight clash in Andar district of Ghazni.
Meanwhile, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said that a five-member militant group had been detained by police in Badghis province.
According to a statement, the NDS said militants were creating security problems on Badghis-Herat highway and Band-i-Sabzak area of Badghis province.
The detained militants confessed to their crime.
