Militants execute district prison chief

CHAGHCHARAN (Pajhwok): Taliban province, officials said.

Fazal Ahmad was on his way home when militants abducted him, Abdulhai Khatiti, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

He said Maulvi Asmatullah, a Taliban commander, hanged the official on Ghor-Herat highway. The victim’s body is yet to be delivered to his family or the government.

Col. Syed Ahmad Salangi, the deputy police chief, confirmed the incident and said the victim’s bodyguard was in Taliban custody. Security forces are trying to rescue him.
