Kabul contest came to an end, on July 2, and top five reciters were introduced by jury as the winners of the contest. The contest was organized in cooperation with Ariana TV, the media partner for this contest, to identify the best reciters for the year 2014 and to promote Islamic traditions and values.
Speaking on the closing ceremony of the contest, Yasser Aboul Amayem, CCO of Etisalat Afghanistan said, ‘Alhamdulillah, another season of Quran contest was successfully completed. I congratulate this achievement to all participants, organizers and in particular to the top five winners.’
‘Using this opportunity, I would also like to congratulate the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan to all Afghans. May the blessings of this month fill their homes with peace and love.’ Mr. Yasser added.
The preliminary round of Etisalat Annual Quran contest started, on 16 June 2014, in five zones across Afghanistan where hundreds of participants had to go through selection procedures and only top reciters from each zone were able to make their way to second round, in Kabul. However, the selection round in Kabul province started with one-day delay, on 17 June.
Once the selection round was over in all five zones, selected reciters were invited to Kabul where they were accommodated and competed for the title of ‘Best Reciter’.
As a part of contest formal procedure, top five reciters were awarded cash prizes worth notable sum of money by Etisalat.
Muhammad Qais winner of the first position received cash prize of Afs 171,000, Mohammad Zaki winner of the second position received cash prize of Afs 142,000 , Nasir Bahadori received Afs 116,000 for third position, Muhammad Zaki received Afs 85,000 for fourth position and Sayed Ali Reza received Afs 57,000 for fifth position.

However, this year Etisalat decided to hold the preliminary selection round in different zones to facilitate the participation process.
According to organizers of this year`s program, the enthusiasm and interest of young participants was huge which made their number swell to almost double, compared to previous years.
It is worth mentioning that the program is broadcast every day on Arian TV at 5:30pm before Iftar in the month of Ramadan.
