ISLAMABAD (Pajhwok): Pakistan, saying it had helped efforts to conduct an inclusive presidential election.
“We took several measures to enhance vigilance and security along the border during the first and second rounds of elections on April 5 and June 14,” the Foreign Office spokeswoman said.
In a statement, Tasnim Aslam said that Pakistan had consistently emphasised that it would respect the democratic choice of the Afghan people.
“We have seen the announcement by the Independent Election Commission regarding preliminary results and noted the statement that these are not final,” she said.
The spokeswoman hoped all issues would be resolved peacefully, through dialogue, in a timely manner and within the framework of Afghanistan’s Constitution and laws.
A peaceful, stable, unified and prosperous Afghanistan was vital to regional peace and stability, she observed, promising help to advance the cause of peace, stability and development.
