MAIMANA/PUL-I-KHUMRI (Pajhwok): At least six people, including a child, were killed and six others wounded in separate incidents of violence in northern Baghlan and northwestern Faryab provinces, officials said on Monday.

A 12-year-old child was killed and six others were injured in an explosion in the Khinjan district of Baghlan province on the Kabul-Mazar-i-Sharif highway. The blast occurred in a passenger car in Chandran locality on Sunday evening, police Spokesman Javed Basharat told Pajhwok Afghan News.

Zalmai, director of the civil hospital, said the wounded were brought in to the hospital who had been discharged after treatment.

Jalaluddin, an eyewitness, said he saw smoke billowing from the car. The driver was helping passengers come out of the car.

Police spokesman confirmed the blast was triggered by gas cylinder in the car.

Separately, two brothers were killed by their uncles due to a family feud in the Jilga district. Police detained the killers who confessed to committing the crime.

In Faryab, a tribal elder was shot dead by policeman after he offered resistance to police during search of a rickshaw he was travelling in. 

Abdul Salam Nazhat, administrative chief of Dawlatabad district, said police was searching the rickshaw in which Haji Gul, a tribal elder was traveling.

He said that Gul developed a scuffle with the police and wanted to snatch the pistol which led to the exchange of firing leaving him dead.

Elsewhere, unidentified gunmen killed an individual in the Khwaja Sabzposh district. Abdullah Masumi, district administrative chief, said Mir Akbar had been gunned down because of a family feud.  

He said the slain individual had brutally killed his wife during Taliban regime and escaped to Iran, he added. 

Separately, a young man in Andkhoi district committed suicide after he found his wife and sister absent at home.

Sultan Sangar, district administrative chief, confirmed, saying that the pair left their home without permission from the slain person.
