KABUL (Pajhwok): Some 50 employees of the Noor Eye Hospital in Kabul on Saturday went on strike against what they called delays in payment of their salaries.
The strikers included both administrative and medical staffs, said Dr. Mohammad Yusuf Baraki, the hospital director. He said remaining staff continued their work.
Dr. Baraki said the eye hospital had 178 staff in total and all of them were without salaries for the last two months.
He said the Ministry of Public Health had cited budget deficit a reason behind the delay and had promised to resolve the issue soon.
Finance Ministry spokesman Abdul Qadir Jilani said his ministry was not responsible to carry out budget estimates for the Public Health Ministry.
