CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The residents of central Parwan province on Sunday complained the province was neglected in terms of development projects and the road to Koh Safi district was in dilapidated condition.
Sardar Aqa, a taxi driver, said the condition of the road from Bagram district to Koh Safi was in a shambles. “This road was graveled five years ago but now we are unable to travel it because it is bumpy.”
Naqibullah, another resident of Koh Safi, said he was sure record embezzlement had been committed in the construction of the road because it had developed big cracks and was unable to travel.
Saifullah, the district administrative chief, acknowledged the condition of the road was pretty bad. He, however, said he had shared the problem with relevant officials who pledged to allocate funds for repairs.
Eng. Ahmad Farid, the director of public works, said the road had been built by a company with US aid. He added his department had devised a plan to set aside funds for the repair of the road.
Abdul Wakil, a local elder, said that it was need of the day that the concerned department should shift their focus to constructing buildings for schools.
Most of schools had buildings in rest of districts, he said, demanding the authorities focus on the development of Kohi Safi.
Nizamuddin Rahimi, deputy director of education, acknowledged Koh Safi schools were faced with lack of proper buildings. He assured all steps were being taken to ensure building of more facilities for educational institutions.
