SHARAN/MAIMANA (Pajhwok): At least two Afghan National Army (ANA) soldiers have been killed in northwestern Faryab province while four insurgents were eliminated in southeastern Paktika, officials said on Monday.
Nisar Ahmad Abdul Rahimzai, police chief for Paktika province, told Pajhwok Afghan News that four rebels were killed during an encounter in the Karez –i-Ibrahim area of Mata Khan district. He said police had recovered two Kalashnikovs and two motorbikes.
Elsewhere, two ANA soldiers were killed in a roadside mine explosion in the Kaj-i-Naw area on the Almar-Qaisar highway in Faryab province.
Brig. Gen. Shirin Shah Kohbandi, commander of the first battalion of 209the Shaheen Corps, said the explosion took place in front of the army vehicle, leaving three soldiers wounded.
