GHAZNI CITY (Pajhwok): Sixteen militants have been killed and 18 others injured during clearing operations in southern Ghazni province, officials said on Thursday.
The Afghan National Army (ANA) launched the operations yesterday in Maqur and Andar districts, a spokesman for the 203rd Corps told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Nazifullah Sultani said 11 Taliban were killed and 18 others injured during the operations, which also led to the seizure of weapons.
Another five fighters were killed when security personnel struck their explosives-laden vehicle in the Sardar Qala area of Andar district.
A resident of Andar, Habibullah, said: “The Taliban are continuously firing at security forces from civilian houses.” He said the civilians had not suffered any casualties.
