KABUL (Pajhwok):Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Tuesday acknowledged flaws in the peace process, calling for a thorough review of the reconciliation effort.
During a meeting with tribal elders and youths from Ghazni, Logar, Paktia, Paktika and Khost provinces, Abdullah conferred on issues of reconstruction, participation of youth in government affairs.
Education services in theprovince also came up for discussion, a statement from CEO officesaid.The elders insisted on an effective anti-corruption drive and recruitments on merit.
According to the statement, the delegates called peace an urgent need of the Afghan nation. But they warned the peace process should not be treated as a project, the statement added.
“I will look into the issues and you will see the result. It is not only a promise, but practical steps will be taken in this regard,” Abdullah promised, saying he would instruct the ministries concerned to resolve people’s problems.
Regarding the peace campaign, the CEO said that there were several mistakes in the process. “At the moment, there is a need for a thorough review of the government’s peace policy.”
He explained the government desire peace in the country, but was determined to ensure their people’s security.No one will be allowed to deprivethe masses of their rights.”
