MIHTERLAM (Pajhwok): The governor of eastern Laghman province Abdul Jabbar Naeemi has demanded the Ministry of Education (MoE) to bring basic reforms in the province education sector, an official said on Friday.
Sarhadi Zwak, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok that Naeemi raised the issue of education reforms during a meeting with Education Minister Dr. Asadullah Hanif Balkhi.
He said Balkhi during his day long visit to the province assured the governor that his ministry would strive to resolved the existing issues in the education sector.
Naeemi said the people of Laghman granted their private lands for the construction of schools and asked the ministry to launch work on 12 schools that needed buildings.
The governor said as many as 117 schools in the province were without buildings, adding that lack of text books, basic infrastructure and other issues harmed the vital education sector of the province.
Balkhi said that the Laghman education department would soon witness basic reforms in its structure. He said interference by political forces in the education sector were harmful for progress of education.
