Kabul calls Pakistani envoy over rocket shelling

KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghan Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) on Thursday summoned Pakistani ambassador in Kabul and lodged a formal protest over latest rocket shelling into two Afghan districts.

The Pakistani Ambassador, Syed Ibrar Hussain, was summoned this afternoon over firing rockets into Sarkan district of eastern Kunar province and Maroof district of southern Kandahar province by Pakistani security and militia forces, the ministry said in a statement.

MoFA political section head Mohammad Musa Arifi met the diplomat and handed him over a complaint letter from the Afghanistan government, the statement said.

Arifi insisted rocket firing into Afghanistan by Pakistani forces would further deteriorate relations between the two neighboring countries and lead to bilateral problems.
