JALALABAD (Pajhwok): A privately-owned oxygen and nitrogen producing plant was inaugurated in eastern Nangarhar province on Thursday.
The plant, a $350,000 project, would meet people’s needs besides offering jobs, the factory’s founder, Dr. Nasimullah Darman, said, naming his factory as ‘Lowy Nangarhar Oxygen Nitrogen.”
His factory would produce oxygen and nitrogen for 24 hours to meet people’s needs in Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Nuristan provinces, he said.
He said 250 professional and non-professional individuals would be employed directly and indirectly.
Dr. Mohammad Zafar Hameedi, public health department head, said the Lowy Nangarhar Oxygen and Nitrogen factory had been set up on international standard.
Dr. Hikmatulla Arab, public health department representative, who monitored the building of the factory, said it had been constructed in a standard way.
He added they imported oxygen from Kabul and foreign countries but now the factory would help overcome the problem.
Ordinary people were also pleased with the development, saying it would also provide employment opportunities to people.
